/// SPECIAL ABILITY
Crystallization: His body generates energy that causes a biochemical reaction with any substance with mass. This reaction is quite simple - the energy crystallizes an object. This energy is incapable of crystallizing anything without mass ( Fire, light, etc ), but can crystallize moisture in the air, given enough time to work with.
The crystals can be grown and manipulated at his discretion, though of course, that is once he has real control over what he does. Currently, his energy range is short, and he can only make crystals grow a certain way, he cannot 'manipulate' them into fine shapes.
The crystals themselves are the density of regular crystal, and so their weight is proportionate to their mass. The larger, thicker the crystal, the heavier it is, where as the inverse is also applicable. This means, of course, that though he can make smaller things, he cannot control the molecular mass of his crystals, and make something thin and aerodynamic weigh a ton.
The larger the item being crystallized, or the larger the crystal being made, the more energy it requires to make it. The crystals do bend light as a prism might, which can make a very pretty display, if anyone were interested. He can manipulate a 'finished' crystal, but he must be in physical contact with it in order to make it do anything different. For instance, if he had a wall of crystal in front of him, he could open a door in it. Manipulating crystal takes less effort than creating them completely, though large-scale manipulations still wear on him like large-scale crystallization might.

/// ABILITY LIMITS
As these crystals are more or less natural, they will shatter at the same high pitched, sonic frequency as regular crystals. They can also be destroyed with significant force - while they are unusually strong ( slightly stronger than steel ) they do not 'give', and so they shatter when said force is applied.
This ability is highly taxing, as it is both advancing a natural process, and creating a situation for the natural process to flourish. He isn't able to do this for very long before becoming completely exhausted, nor is he capable of using his power past six square feet away from his body. This range isn't extended if he's channeling through his hands. Along with that, the rate of crystal growth is dependant on his will - the faster he grows a crystal, the more concentration and willpower it requires. That, too, will drain him of his necessary reserves much faster than normal.
When he crystallizes things, the items themselves are not turned in to crystal, and so, if the crystal shatters, or is broken, they will be more or less in tact. However, the crystals are solid, like natural crystals, so they do not let oxygen in. This is very dangerous, if it is used on a person or anything that requires oxygen to live.

/// PERSONALITY
Kaylin has always been a well-mannered, albeit strong-willed young man, which has molded him into the individual he is today. He's outspoken, though he does allow someone else to talk when they need the chance - keyword on allow. He's not one to take garbage from other kids his age, or even adults. Kaylin can smell bullshit from a mile away, and he's not afraid to let everyone within earshot know about it.
That being said, tact is something he's not so great at. He knows to mind his manners, and so when it comes to other people, strangers, etc. he comes off very cordial and concise. Kaylin has a tendency to remain quiet for the first several hours of meeting someone, especially in an otherwise un-social setting. Kaylin's not particularly aggressive, either, which makes getting along with him rather easy, once you've made a decent connection with him.
To his friends, the people that know him a bit closer than the rest, he's much more outgoing... not losing the manners, but allowing himself to let loose a little more. That being said, he's not, nor never has been delinquent - he's not a fan of drinking or smoking, even if a majority of his peers are.
In difficult or threatening situations, he prefers to play the defensive role - he doesn't start real arguments or voice his problems with others, especially when the need isn't there. However, he is quick to defend his own ideas and himself when the time is necessary. That being said, he's not all that threatening in and of himself, and his personality is more receptive than not.

Ethnicity~ Caucasian - American mutt variety?
Hair~ Brown

/// APPEARANCE
He's a 'conservative' rocker, in that he doesn't wear lots of chains and black clothing... in fact, he dresses somewhat normally for a kid his age. He likes baggy clothes, and things with lots of pockets, be they cargo pants, hoodies, etc. He likes to have options when he's carrying things. KC does tend to lean towards the cool colors of the spectrum - light greens, blues, violets ( though that last one is not a usual color choice for him ).
When going through his closet and drawers, you'd be able to tell that he does have a lot of clothes - he's not skimpy, with what he wears, and he actually has 'outfits'. He has only a few pairs of shoes, though, and they're all sneakers, as nice shoes hurt his feet. Nevertheless, he fits in the clothes pretty well, as he's a leaner kind of person - lots of running makes for a nicely defined body type. Unfortunately, it's somewhat defeated by puberty, with his legs and arms being a bit longer, than the rest of him, making him a little bit awkward when he's just moving around.
Typically he likes keeping his hair in check - not too short, but just below his ears. It's straight, most of the time... when other's hair might frizz out due to humidity, his starts to curl. It's a bit awkward, but he doesn't mind. He has an angular face - sharper features than a lot of kids his age, as he just recently lost his 'baby fat'. Keeping with all of this, his fingers are a bit long and 'elegant', perfect for piano playing if he were even remotely interested in the instrument.
He wears size 10 shoes, as his feet seem to have grown much faster than the rest of him. He stands roughly at around 5'5", making him only average in height, though he doesn't seem too worried about that, either.

/// HISTORY
Kaylin Edward Cross, born to two newlyweds, was a healthy boy with a full head of hair - indicative of the years to come. He grew quickly, as babies tended to do, until he was soon walking and talking in almost-full sentences. But of course, this is a bit far back to begin telling his history, so we'll move forward just a bit.
Kaylin, dubbed 'KC' by a large majority of his friends, was never particularly monstrous as a kid. He seemed to get in trouble less than everyone else ( though he did get in trouble plenty - he had a knack for breaking glasses with various balls and toys ), though that might have been less because he was well behaved, and more that he was just very polite. His parents raised him in a loving, caring environment, with very little in the way of craziness... which left him better off, it seemed. He was always willing to say what needed to be said... albeit carefully.
As he got older, things remained very much the same - they moved from a smaller apartment in down town St. Louis, trading it for a nice house in the outskirts, providing KC with something he didn't know he wanted: A nice place to run. It turned out he was both very good at running, and it was something he loved to do - he was able to clear his head whenever he ran.
Though problems came when he made it to sixth grade - his eyesight had begun to deteriorate, though he had never really noticed it in the past few years. However, his teachers constantly saw him squinting, and prompted his parents to take him to the optometrist, where he got his very first pair of glasses. They made him self conscious, so, despite how very much he needed them, he was rarely seen with them on - an adamant refusal when it was plain to see that there was no room for that.
Nevertheless, he refused to let that deter him. Music was slowly but surely becoming a passion for him - he'd begged his parents to buy him a set of drums, swearing up and down that he wasn't going to give them up, and after days of debating back and forth, they finally got him a decent used drum kit. Learning it was difficult, of course - he had to teach himself a lot of the nuances that came with drumming, trying to understand how various musicians did what they did by listening to songs on repeat.
It drove his parents batty, but he actually became pretty good at it, over time.
In Freshman year of high school, he found contacts. Or rather, he persuaded his parents ( with quite a lot of bribery on his part ) to get him a pair of contacts, instead of glasses. He was convinced he was better off this way, and felt infinitely less self conscious ( except those random times when a contact lens fell out. Embarassing ). However, despite this happiness, something horrible happened.
The truck claimed to never have seen the car that his friend's mother was driving when it plowed through the intersection on the red, claiming his friend's life, and very nearly taking his own. He broke several of the bones in his wrist, shredding a lot of the musculature found there. His palm was host to several cuts, which only made matters worse for him. He had issues for a little while, trying to understand why he'd managed to survive, though his friend did not.
The funeral was a somber event, as funerals tend to be. But he, unfortunately, missed it - scheduled instead to be in surgery.
After two surgeries, where a majority of the bones were set, and after a good eight months in a cast, he found himself having problems with his hand. He had difficulty doing a lot of things with it, and even gripping a drum stick was almost impossible. Playing the drums were out of the question.
Demoralized, he was put in physical therapy, where he started sculpting as a way to regain some of his lost fine motor control. Hand excersizes and other 'fun' activities slowly nursed his hand back to almost perfect.
He was able to play the drums again, and he found a new thing to enjoy.
Now, starting his sophomore year, his life is about to take another strange turn.
/// ANYTHING ELSE?
Obviously, in his history, he is not going to have experience with his power. By 'new manifest', I'm being very literal. My audition will be the first manifestation of his powers, yeah? I hope this is all right.

/// SAMPLE RP
There was a blaring noise in his ears, as there was every morning at six. Reaching over, he smacked the alarm clock hard - the old bugger typically required a thorough beating before it stopped, but for some reason today, it died out quickly. He was thankful for that. Though he didn't have to be at the bus stop for another hour, he preferred getting ready without the need to rush, and his morning shower had to come after his morning run. With a slight groan, he pulled himself out of bed - though it was ritual, it didn't make him any happier to get up in the morning.
Tugging on an old mountain dew t-shirt, and slipping a pair of black sweat pants over his legs, he hunted around absently for his glasses. This was the only time in the day he would wear them - he hated the way they made him look, but putting his contacts in first thing in the morning was a hassle. Since no one else would see him, it wasn't too humiliating. He grabbed a hoodie from the coat hanger next to the door, and pulled it over his head as he exited.
With only a moment's hesitation, he took off, already thankful for the open area that the suburbs provided, behind the collective neighbourhood. As the slapping of his sneakers shifted to a much more gentle padding as he entered the grassier area, he let out a controlled breath, watching his breath leave in a gentle mist.
Twenty minutes later found him with a hand on the side of his house, panting gently. A good run, and plenty of time for a shower. Giddy as he tended to be, he headed inside - unaware of the still growing patch of crystals that began to form where his hand had just been. Crystals that were almost identical to the ones that now encased his alarm clock.
