/// SPECIAL ABILITY
Sonokinesis
Theo is a walking boom box, capable of creating any sonic effect he desires, from sweet music to sonic booms. This includes the change of pitch, frequency and direction that sound takes, creating sonic patterns as well as determining the path and magnitude of sound waves, and deviation coefficient from the central path.
This control allows someone with sonokinesis to duplicate voices, act as a ventriloquist and provide his own theme song at a moment's notice. They can direct an orchestra that isn't there or tell a story, much as you might hear on a radio drama, all by themselves. Once they have overheard a conversation, they can play it back for you, just as they remember it, or change it slightly and play back an altered conversation with the same voices, intonation and patterns of speech.
The violent effects of sonokinesis are limited to eardrum and glass busting screeches and sonic booms. The former require knowledge of the right frequencies and direction, while the latter requires a great deal of focus and energy in order to compress the sonic waves in order to create enough force to break the sound barrier, thus creating an explosion of sound, similar to what jets do in the upper atmosphere.
Theo himself, however is a new manifest, and is, at this point, only able to reproduce music that he has heard. Certain things may come intuitively to him because of his music background, but in essence, he's just a walking iPod at the moment.

/// ABILITY LIMITS
This ability is limited primarily by one's ability to conceptualize sound. In order to produce something one must understand it. For everyday sounds, this is fairly simple, by listening to something, a sonokinetic can reproduce the sound, whether it be someone's voice, a song, a piece or aspect of a song, a sound effect or any number of things.
For sonic booms, a character must not only have heard a sonic boom, but understand the type of compression responsible in order to create the effect. For glass or material-breaking sound, the user must not only know the note, but be familiar with it. The same can be said for sounds to quiet, high pitched or low pitched for the human ear to hear.
Sonokinesis, surprisingly, does not require a great deal of focus or endurance. A user can create sounds that they have heard absent mindedly, the way one might drive down the highway or wash their hands. Focus is only needed with creating sounds, and has a scale of difficulty much like a musical instrument. However, even with very complex creations, a practiced veteran can make it look easy. Still, as low-impact as Sonokinesis is, doing so for hours at a time takes a toll on the mind and body.
The Range of Sonokinesis varies, exclusively dependent upon the intensity of the sound, which is a function of effort exerted. It lasts as long as the user is thinking about the sound they are making, and can be manipulated, insulated or otherwise changed by sound manipulating devices and materials that are currently available.
Finally, sonokinesis requires direction for many of its effects. Ventriloquism is direction paired with basic sonokinesis, however, in order to avoid killing onesself with a sonic boom, direction must be mastered. A master of direction can match sound against incoming sound and thus, cancel out sound rendering anything they wish silent, or use contrasting sound to manipulate sound in other ways.
In short, both knowledge and skill are crucial to mastering sonokinesis. For a beginner like Theo, recreating music and speech, ventriloquism and dog whistles are about all he can do without some schooling in sonic science and a lot of practice.
Note that a sonokinetic does not have super-hearing, and can never prevent sound from occurring, only prevent it from being detected by the naked ear.

/// PERSONALITY
By The Book
Theo is a man, to use the word liberally, of order and process. He likes things controlled, and in their proper place. He is fairly OCD when it comes to processes and cause and effect. He is not above taking risks, however each one must be calculated. He prides himself privately on doing this the right way, and cannot easily be swayed to do otherwise outside of life and death situations.
Straight Shooter
Theo, as such, is one of the most honest people he knows. While he enjoys banter as much as anyone else, when serious, he likes to get right on to the point, and finds misdirection tedious and insulting. Never one to sugar coat the truth, and often one to wield facts aggressively and ruthlessly, Theo is all business, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
Arrogant?
Theo is not spoiled, but he does think highly of himself. He has a certain kind of pride, often described as cockiness, even before his abilities manifested. He chooses to believe in himself, more as a matter of survival than a matter of upbringing. He uses it to push himself to do things that he normally would not have the will to do, and defend himself, mentally, from personal attacks.
A Teenager
Despite his strong personality, Theo is still, in every measurable way, an adolescent. His hormones are on fire, he feels as though he is the only one going through what he is going through, and he has a strong desire to prove himself to any and everyone who will pay him any attention. He also feels a bit invincible, which gets him into more trouble than all the rest combined.
But the world really does owe me something...
Theo doesn't feel as though life has given him a fair shake, and because of that, he feels entitled to take things that are not necessarily owed to him. He doesn't feel as though he can be unfair, especially to those he perceives as more fortunate. In short, he can be Robin Hood without a twinge of remorse, regret or moral ambiguity.

/// APPEARANCE
Theo appears to be a healthy, fit, although lean American teenager. His shoulders are a bit broad, suggesting he might be quite a bit thicker as a full grown adult, a concept supported by the size of his hands and feet. A closer examination of his physique would reveal very toned arms and forearms, from many nights and days of practice and a 'four pack' across his abdomen, from many many sit ups and crunches.
Theo tends to dress up, dress slacks or khakis at the very least with a button down shirt and usually a sport jacket. While he is not above wearing a baseball cap with it to give him a bit of street credibility, mystique and uniqueness. He varies between dress shoes and sneakers, but favors blacks the former, and in his suits, and white in the latter. He has a favorite silver dress watch that he typically wears, and most of his accessories, whether they be iPods, computers, cell phones or similar favor a white and blue motif, a consistency which he enjoys immensely.
His hair stays cut short, and is tapered and squared to accentuate wide features in his nose, lips and ears. His high cheekbones tend to accentuate his smile, and oddly, their apparent absence highlights his scowls and grimaces. His eyes are a dark deep brown, there is no sparkle to them, and as windows to his soul, it seems as though the shutters are down, proverbially, and one can only make out silhouettes in the background.

/// HISTORY
Theo is the oldest of two kids born to a lower middle-class Nashville Tennessee family. Hardworking idealistic people, Theo was taught from a young age, to be responsible, earnest and just. Many of the lessons didn't necessarily take the way his parents intended, but he certainly remembers all of it, even if he doesn't put it all into practice. Regardless, he'd always found his parents to be generally dependable people, his mother the listener, his father the passionate one.
Much of his young life was spent trying to help Theo become some sort of overachiever, enrolling him in this program, that camp and the other program, a practice which has worked much better on his more adventurous younger sister. Theo found virtually everything boring, tedious, pointless and otherwise dreadful. Everything except music. But that presented its own troubles, Theo drank through it like water, and it far outmatched schoolwork in his priorities.
Furthermore, he wasn't exceptionally good at music, good, yes, but not exceptionally. He was typically rearranging and recreating things that were given to him. He was serviceable in whatever he did, but he wasn't truly a prodigy. He just loved it, and did what was given to him well. Enough to get him respect, to allow him to travel with groups, but not to start a career or anything.
The oddest thing about Theophilus Simms was perhaps his social life. The distinct disconnect he felt from his peers. It had much less to do with his race or recent move from Nashivlle to Atlanta, and much more to do with his perspective on himself. On a certain level, he was different, simply because he thought he was. He certainly did his best to fit in, to move amongst them while being fundamentally different, in his mindset, in his priorities, in his view on life, but at the end of the day, they were just an audience. And he played the part well.
By the time Theo hit high school, he had a niche he enjoyed, and did well. He was the aloof artist, and he chose his friends carefully. Most of them understood he liked what he did and was good at it, but few understood that it was the only thing he ever really felt like doing. They would ask him to DJ, or in church he'd be asked to play while someone else sang. No one had any idea that he had been having trouble... not that he was having trouble playing music, much worse. The music seemed to have started playing itself. A note here, a note there, in perfect place, perfect pitch, perfect rhythm. No one had played it, though.

/// SAMPLE RP
Theo walked through the park with the girl he had just had dinner with at a restaurant that had just drained his last twenty dollar bill. He'd be able to get some more next week from his little retail job, but this was important. There was manly pride and, potentially, physical relations on the line, and everything had to be perfect. Would be perfect.
"Wait..." Theo cocked his head to the side as he looked at the girl with a half smile. "Who said anything about a movie!?" He asked surprised, awaiting her planned and assured confusion. "Oh, babe, you must have misheard me, I said dinner and a show. Very important distinction." His smile warmed and brightened as they approached the fountain.
It was one he was familiar with, mostly from childhood, but he had been here at least three times this week, just watching the timing, two times at night, to see how the lights played. It was a simple three minute pattern. Lights danced, and by itself, it was nothing remarkable, amazing to a child, but most Atlantians had seen it a few times and rarely regarded it with a second glance.
"What you don't know," Theo said as he reached behind a low stone wall and produced a chair and a music stand "... is that I've arranged a very special piece of music to be composed. Just for you." He unfolded the chair and gestured for her to sit in it with a huge smile.
In truth, his heart was racing a mile a minute as he turned and stood the music stand there. His timing was perfect, and that, perhaps was the most unnerving thing of all. Taking off his jacket, he handed it, gently to his date before pulling a conductor's wand.
"And this evening," he bowed with a nervous smile as only a gentleman can, "I present for your listening pleasure, A Serenade for Cynthia." He turned and walked to the stand. Glancing over his shoudler he added. "In D."
He tapped the music stand in the most cliche way. Rapping it twice, glancing over his shoulder in a cheeky manner before turning, taking a deep breath and raising his arms.
The invisible orchestra rose with his hands, tuning their nonexistant instruments. Violins. Cellos. Horns. Woodwinds. Theo had made the song on his laptop and played it endlessly all week long, even to himself in class as practice. Even now, he was mixing down the song and working to crispify the quality. He didn't dare glance of his shoulder to see what effect this magical event was having on his target. He needed his nerve. She would be the first person he'd openly demonstrate his powers to, even if he would call them hidden speakers latter, if need be.
With a sway of his arms, Theo's concerto began, sweeping horns over mourning violins as he tried to put the difficult life of West Atlanta neighborhoods to classical music.
Did you read the rules: The rules? My dog ate them. Honest.
