/// SPECIAL ABILITY
Marc has the ability of Electrokinesis. With this ability he is able to generate alternate forms of electricity from his body in offensive(and sometimes defensive) ways. Though not a very defensive type ability, the electric energy that does release from his body can possibly deflect oncoming, tangible objects if enough force is put behind his attack. Manipulation of electrons within his body is how he is able to transfer and relocate the position of electric flow from within himself. If confronting a foe and deciding upon using his electrokinesis to defend himself, Marc has to focus his electrons, including the desired body part, at the target. He also finds that his resistance to electricity is fairly high, keeping his skin from severely damaging when he is absorbing or releasing electricity.
Being able to manipulate other forms of electricity is something else that the man has yet to discover. For example, using the electricity to power a heating generator and manipulating it in a way that causes it to explode is one of many techniques that he has yet to learn. Another trick is the ability to treat electricity in the same fashion of an electric CPR, or to charge a car battery, or to cause an acute fire in a highly flammable environment. Emotions are also a factor that play into his ability, causing him to either harness more control of his ability or less control.
[/i]
/// ABILITY LIMITS
Though his ability is something that can take many forms and work in many different ways, it is in no way limitless. Take his ability to form alternate forms of electricity for example - at the moment the only form he can generate is a long, linear bolt of electricity that immediately strikes. Any attempts at the moment to further enhance his ability usage (i.e. electric balls, multiple blasts of electricity at the same time, electric hovering), will result in the act of exhaustion and fatigue. When he uses his electricity he is making use of the electrons within his own body, which within itself puts Marc in a dangerous position. For example, if he overexerts his electrical outtake or intake, he could run the risk of having himself a minute heart-attack or damaging some nerve tissue. There’s also the risk of temporarily burning of the skin on his body.
Water is another factor in keeping Marc’s ability limited; whenever he is in the midst of using his ability and is met with the presence of water upon his own body, chances are the electric charges will “cancel” out and cause it to backlash against himself. Again, his body is only resistant against so much electricity, so too much will result in some type of bodily damage. Emotions also play a huge part when it comes to Marc and his power - nothing can set him off faster than a lack of emotional control. During times of high distress or anger, he is most likely to loose control of his ability and ultimately bring harm to others or himself. Thus keeping his emotions under control also means he has to keep his guard up against (literally) painful situations, for pain can cause him to have release small, fast, jolts of electric from any part of his body. The results can be both frightening and hazardous to others or himself..[/i]
/// PERSONALITY
Marc is a very down to earth kind of guy; nothing seems to get under his skin and a lot of that has to do with his sarcasm. He shuns out pain and fear by being a “smart-ass”, allowing his nonchalant-like attitude to take over and not get him to the point of loosing control of his emotions and ability. He never passes up the opportunity to throw out a joke, even when it could be at the most awkward and inappropriate time. This is turn is what perceives him as an outspoken person; his passion to always speak his mind and never holding back information is what causes a lot of people to dislike him. However none of these views matter to Marc as he feels he doesn’t have anything to prove to anybody, which is exactly why he lives his life without hardly any rules. He does what feels comfortable and comes natural to him, only taking into consideration the people he has to protect from harm. There’s also the idea of Marc being a bit vain with his looks; the idea of being able to attract any woman is something he has grown to believe for some time now.
Relationship wise Marc is quite the lady’s man and is an extreme flirt when he wants to be. Despite the fact he’s not one to live fast and dangerous, he likes to take chances once in a while to experience things that he may never get to experience again. Curiosity is something he has always fallen victim to, which in a lot of cases lands him into trouble or even worse. Yet with such a cheerful disposition, Marc wouldn’t be human if he didn’t have that dark side to him. Many times he has found that he has a short tolerance for people who are rude and inconsiderate (especially when it comes to family), causing him to occasionally lash out at said individual or restrain the urge to start a physical altercation. However when it does come to altercations, you can bet your bottom dollar that Marc will be at the front of a fight if one were to ever arise. A lot of that has to do with Marc’s overconfidence. This overconfidence of his is not to be taken lightly for it will only feed the fire in his courageous nature. He’s most defiantly somebody one could depend on and trust, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s sweet and peaceful as well. Marc has a mean streak that can have many people question his true motives, even though its purely personality. All in all Marc is a nice guy, but nice is all you’re going to get out of him. He has his moments where he can be the biggest jerk in the world, but those views won‘t change how he looks at himself.

/// APPEARANCE
Marc’s fashion sense is that of subtly and class; lively colors and themes are not quite his forte. He’s one to mix things up as he goes, grabbing the nearest article of clothing and throwing it on himself before heading out the door. Though this isn’t to confuse him as a guy who wears the standard blue jeans and white t-shirt. No, Marc likes to think that he has a bit more class than that, usually indulging himself with plenty of long-sleeve sweaters, white dress shirts, blazers, and unique jackets. As far as pants are concerned, one may find him in either a pair of navy light blue jeans or black dress pants (more than likely he’d have the dress pants on). Much like pants, shoes are something that Marc doesn’t worry himself too much about, having about three pairs of shoes in total: a pair of tennis shoes, a pair of dress shoes, a pair of boots.
Standing at 6’0” tall and weighing 167 pounds, Marc’s confidence makes his appearance speak for itself. Always looking laidback and collective, he carries himself entirely out of the act of being free and not caring what others think of him. His body is not made of perfection and he’s far from having the perfect six-pack abs that most men would die for. However Marc is in healthy shape with a flat stomach and defined muscles. His hazel eyes have a habit to change colors in certain lighting, sometimes from hazel to dark blue to luminescent green. His wavy black and blonde hair is fairly short though it is quite obvious that the top of his head does sustain the most hair. As far as facial hair is concerned Marc is not one to rush and shave at the first sign of a five ‘o clock shadow. On most days he doesn’t like to shave the stubble on his face, so the chances of one seeing him without hair on his face are extremely rare. The same can also be said about his passion to tan to which he hardly does, thus making him look somewhat pale on occasion.

/// HISTORY
In the early summer of 1982, Julia Cori Stubbs’s (a young accountant born in the small town of Austin, Texas) boyfriend of her unborn child left her for another woman…her best friend. The event was a stressful one and put her in a state of depression and shock, the key factors that caused her to have an early pregnancy. Having to drive herself to the nearest hospital in the humid, midnight heat, Julia painfully made it to her desired location and remained in labor for a grueling 7 hours straight. Thus, on that hot July 16, 1982, Marc Jeffery Stubbs was born. Amazingly healthy and unaffected by the early childbirth, this stunning example of a hard obstacle conquered is what Marc would have to overcome everyday.
Growing up an only child was not an easy task, especially when growing up with an only parent. His father, Mitch Gareth Stephens (a teacher who moved back home in Canada) would go on to have two kids and a new wife of his own. However due to Julia’s love for her son, Marc would grow up without feeling the need of a father-figure. He would instead take up the title of said “manhood” and help to maintain the stability of both money and household together with his mother. Though as a little baby, there wasn’t much he could do; a somewhat attentive child, there wasn’t a night that would go by without Marc crying for attention or food. Due to Julia’s job though, she was not always able to stay at home and watch the young baby, usually having to hiring babysitters or ask favors from female neighbors she trusted. It went without saying that Marc grew accustomed to being in a household of women, thus leading him to have the positive attitude he has now with women as an adult. Sure he he’s a bit of a playboy…but he respects women none the less.
Now Marc was special in he had this certain charm about him, even as a toddler, that made him such a likable person. There would be moments when he would walk down the street with his mother and suddenly the whole block would stop to stare at the little tyke. Extreme, yes - however it went without saying that the constant compliments growing up gave Marc the overconfident attitude he has today. In fact, there was point in Marc’s childhood era when he would fix things and make messes around the house just to receive compliments. Even so, the overconfident attitude that he did develop turned him into a somewhat loud, obnoxious, whiney child. Take his first couple weeks in school for example; if nothing went his way for any reason whatsoever, he would throw things, hit people, or just flat out hold his breath until he turned blue.
As he got a bit older, he noticed how hard it was on his mother to work the many shifts she had under her belt, and wanted to do something to help. It was during this time that he tried to contact his biological father and ask for some financial help for the two of them. However when he asked Julia what his father’s name was, she declined to tell him. She was always like that when they discussed Marc’s father, in fact, it was the only thing the two ever fought about. This obviously confused and angered the young boy as he always felt that part of his life was never going to give him the answers he looked for, as far as family was concerned. Though none of his emotions and personal feelings got in the way of taking up the mantle of man in the house; whether it was stealing candy from the nearby corner store only to sell it to kids at school, or babysitting for some of the toddlers around his neighborhood - Marc always tried to lend a helping hand to his mother. Despite the fact most of his earnings were in nickels and dimes, Julia was greatly appreciative of her son and his unconditional love for her.
By the time Marc reached high school, he had already obtained a job at a nearby store where he was a dedicated store clerk; it didn’t mean he was love his job, he was just dedicated. With a little extra income for both himself and the household, Marc soon learned about the importance of money and the independence one had when they obtained it. Saving up enough money to buy all the things he needed as opposed to buying all of the things he wanted, it goes without saying that he learned the value of a dollar fairly early in life, making his math classes fairly easy to pass in school. Of course this was one of the only classes that Marc was doing fairly well in as he was not the more keen student in all of Austin, Texas - he was however the most persistent. Whether he was being a class clown, the school jock, or the kid getting after school detention, Marc always made sure to have fun no matter the situation. It was something he had to do in order to survive the sometimes agonizing and depressing times at home with his mother - he was the only brightness in her gloomy life.
After Marc (barely) graduated high school however, his mother met Jonathan Reese Gates, a dealer at the same car shop that Marc bought his first pickup truck. Though it was unsettling for Marc at first and it took him awhile to get use to Jonathan’s presence within his home, after seeing the happiness that the man brought to his mother made liking him a bit more easy. Plus Marc saw this as an opportunity to venture out on his own and begin living for himself as an adult. Of course it took the man to get over the fact that he could no longer be under his mother’s care for very long, thus decided to move out of state and try to settle things on his own considering he had a substantial amount of money and had already planned to go to college. Marc started to go to college in the summer of 2001, but quickly learned that it wasn’t as easy to live on his own as he had thought it would be. Due to lack of money and poor grades, Marc soon dropped out of college within the year.
Though it all seemed as if though his story was to immediately go down hill after something like that, Marc’s determination kept his strong against the odds and allowed him to quickly jump back on his feet. First he got a job as a bartender at a bar from where he lived, mixing drinks and stopping bar fights on a daily basis. He also thought it in his best interest to take up boxing, in case he got jumped outside the bar again by a group of angry drunks (which resulted in a large scar on the back of his leg). Though the environment made the man a bit more dark in terms of attitude, his free-going attitude was always the same. It took a lot to get Marc to act out of anger…until one night.
One night while getting ready to drive home from a long, late night at work, Marc was (once again) stopped by a group of individuals who were looking for trouble. Even as the man tried to stray away from any form of fight, the group was persistent and refused for him to enter his car. As they proceeded to shove and push him, Marc had to choice but to fight back as he threw the first punch and caused a frenzy of angry drunks to swing their fists as well. Though something strange seemed to be going on inside of Marc as he laid on the pavement, continually being punched by a group of drunk men - there was something inside of him that he couldn’t understand.
Peering up from his arm covered face Marc took notice of one of the men getting ready to hit him in the face with an empty beer bottle. The natural defensive move of throwing his hands in front of him caused a bright and powerful bolt of electricity to release from his hand and knock the man back several feet. Amazed at what had just happened, the drunks around Marc fled the scene as they carried their injured friend with them. Shocked and excited as he would ever be, Marc couldn’t believe what he had done and how he injured that guy who was going to hit him with that glass bottle. This definitely made Marc more confident and more sure of himself than he had ever been before; all his life he had dreamt of being something more than a guy trying to live each day at a time - and now he had superpowers.
Making himself committed to the idea of using his powers in the ways of classic comic-book heroes, he made an oath to do what was necessary to keep people safe now that the responsibility was in his corner. He also vowed to look out for other specials and try to bring them together in a positive sort of way; that’s when he met The Archivists. The details of the meaning were simple as Marc lost control of his ability in front of a bystander, but fortunately that bystander was a member of the group. The individual offered Marc a place in their secret establishment and Marc wanted more than to join the ranks of other specials like himself. Not only would he be working with and helping people like him, but he would also be learning who to control his ability and harnessing it in his will. The thought was beyond exciting and the code that he had promised himself was finally coming into fruition.
For the past year and a half, Marc had been loyal (if not the loudest) member of The Archivists in doing what’s right in protecting those incapable of protecting themselves.

The buzzing noise on top of the cool sounds of The Eagle’s “Hotel California” was enough to awaken Marc from his deep slumber. Slowly lifting his eyelids open, his blurry vision revealing him to a place that he was unaware of. Noticing an extra bit of warmth upon his exposed upper body, Marc turned his head to discover a sleeping woman with her hand placed on his chest. Unsure of just exactly who (and how) the man got into this predicament, he thought it best to try and sneak out of this alien environment before the woman awoke to see him. Sliding himself off the bed (and the strange woman), Marc reached down to pick up his pants and slip them on. Going for his shoes next and thrusting his feet into them, he tip-toed over to a chair in the far corner of the room where his dress shirt was placed. Throwing the shirt on without taking the opportunity to button it up, he began to make his way to the front door and sneak out undetected.
Upon shutting the door lightly and without a sound, Marc released a comforting sigh and made his way towards the exit of the building. He tried to remember the happenings of the night before that lead up to the moment he woke up in bed with a complete stranger. However this wasn’t the first time Marc had partook in a one-night-stand; fulfilling his steady sex life was something that he was not afraid of doing. Reaching the outside of the apartment building he waved his hand and flagged down a cab to come and pick him up. As the vehicle came to a crawling stop and allowed Marc to jump into the backseat, with his pants still unzipped and his shirt unbuttoned.
“5th Street Downtown.” Marc’s orders where simple and precise, as he reached into the back of his pants to grab his wallet and cell phone. Holding the phone between his ear and shoulder while taking out money from his wallet for the taxi driver, Marc listened as the dial tone on the other end of the phone rang for the pass minute. After some time, a click was heard on the other end and a voice finally spoke.
“Crow‘s Bar, Leroy speaking, how can I help you?” the voice asked on the other end of the phone.
“You know you pick up the phone like a social worker, right?” Marc joked as he took the money he owned the driver and set it to the side of himself, buttoning up his silk blue dress shirt in the process.
“Whatever,” Leroy said in a sneer like tone. “Where are you? You were suppose to be here about a half hour ago…yet you’re not. What gives?”
“Long story…listen, I’m going to be a little late coming in to work today. If Big Joe starts wondering where I’m at, just tell him that at my grandmother’s house helping her with taxes or something.” A low chuckle was heard on the other end of the phone as Marc gave a sour look as he finished buttoning up his shirt. “I hear you laughing on the other end,” Marc continued to say in a scolding tone. “Just make sure you pass the message across, got it?” The laugh on the other end of the phone only grew louder as the taxi driver began to slow down in front of his apartment building.
“I’ll think of something,” Leroy said with a chuckle before hanging up the phone. Upon grabbing his phone and pressing the End button on his cell phone, he took his money and handed it to the taxi driver. Heading to his apartment building and contemplating whether or not the woman he had spent the night with the previous night was somebody he met at the bar or not? Well the thought that he didn’t remember any of it was pretty much a clear cut sign that he didn’t have that good of a time with his female companion. ‘Oh well’, he thought to himself as he reached his door and made his way into his apartment. ‘More than likely, it’ll happen again tonight…’. Going straight for his phone and checking his answering machine, the playboy wasn’t at all surprised to hear that he had a stampeded of women calling his phone; the only time he would be worried is if the women stopped calling him nonstop.
Stretching his body to the ceiling, he thought it in his best interest to catch himself some shuteye before heading into work - it wasn’t like the bar was filled with people waiting to get drunk. No, he’d wait to get there when he felt he needed to. Now if it were The Archivists calling him…that’d be a different story.
