/// SPECIAL ABILITY
Sciakinesis, Brian's power, allows him to willfully black out photons so that they attain an opposite state, creating a sort of anti-light, which he can then control further. He can darken a lit area anywhere from a simple faint shade and down to a total blackness that light cannot penetrate. He can also take advantage of the anti-photon's natural gravitational pull which, although small in itself, can acheive a concussive force when moving with enough acceleration and momentum, and when grouped together with enough density-- in this case, Brian applies the measure for offense, firing mildly concussive, ranged shadow blasts to keep the opponent at bay.
While incapable of doing so at the moment, Brian will eventually learn how to use the same principle concerning viscosity as with his long-range attacks, except on a more efficient level. Able to stimulate to not only produce momentum and acceleration, but inertial mass that can capably mimic solidity, which he can sustain without leaking energy in the form of heat, sound, and the like. He could create lasting, tangible constructs for combative purposes, picking up objects, or restraining a moving target by surrounding them in solid darkness.
By means of his power, he can also acheive umbrageous teleportation, by focusing enough of this anti-light in one place; doing so, he tears the spatial fabric from two points and creates a pipe-like conduit of negative energy that begins pulling things inside. He uses this to travel briefly between two spaces in an instant, even going so far as to take along other people.

/// ABILITY LIMITS
The shadows he creates depend very much on his concentration, since he cannot sustain focus when great amounts of light interfere with his attempts to keep the darkness intact. When concentration is lost, the anti-light will return to normal exposure within seconds. One with an ability such as photokinesis, who can excite photons in exactly the opposite way as Brian, could also prove an effective foil to his sciakinesis, depending on their own level of strength.
Those trapped under this field of anti-light could simply walk out of the affected zone, but evolved humans with extra senses (for example, if one had either an enhanced sense of smell or they could see in different wavelengths), they would have an advantage if they were otherwise unable to escape the darkness. He cannot personally see in the dark, and although he can send out a series of viscous waves of darkness resembling sonar, which can bounce back and map out the environment, such methods only return very basic images and generally prove rather impractical.
As for his concussive, ranged blasts, they build up force the further their flight after being fired by Brian. Reaching about fifteen pounds of thrust at their apex, which is about ten feet from the launching point, after which point they usually dissolve. These can be destroyed or intercepted earlier, however, but usually only with strong lights or by supernatural means.
When he figures out how to replicate mass in the anti-light, it will require even more focus than before. The easiest solidity to maintain, allowing him to do so for at least ten minutes, would be partly permeable, allowing objects more than a few pounds to sink into it slowly. He could theoretically strengthen the darkness further, perhaps to that of concrete, but it would be exhausting to keep it that way for more than a few seconds. Like any other form of this darkness, it can also be scattered with sufficiently powerful sources of light in opposition.
Due to the incredible force put into doing so, Brian can only keep the dark 'wormhole' open for only an instant after its creation, making it highly possible to interrupt him before he can enter. Over about one hundred feet is his absolute limit for this mode of teleportation, but this proves even easier when the destination is under his line of sight.
Using this void as his medium for travel would send him to his destination immediately, but he always seems to feel disoriented in the process, unless he pays the utmost concentration during that point. Anyone taken along with him would probably suffer the same, but since they would likely lack much more experience with that form of teleportation than him, it would be even harder for them to anticipate their feelings once they too exit the other side of the portal.

/// PERSONALITY
Thankfully, whatever acclaim Brian has earned as an actor has yet to go to his head. On every level, he remains a kind and thoughtful, considerate man who values his loved ones, making sure to fortify his bonds with them whenever possible. Seeing no need to isolate himself from people, he thinks a good, honest laugh is the key to brightening a day, and most anything social is sure to earn his interest. As exactly the kind of person who would spend hours talking on the phone, it can often be seen that Brian would, under most circumstances, drop everything just to spend a night on the town with friends. To the right person (most anyone, in fact), his trust and friendship are easy to earn and a simple course to maintain.
His viewpoint subsists on how his values are superior, and though he tries to enter conversations with an open mind (so as to lessen the chance of an argument), he usually winds up sounding rather preachy when able to talk about his personal opinions. His societal views are fairly responsible, for he tries to uphold the law, puts other peoples' considerations ahead of his own, and usually stays true to his word. Of course, he struggles to maintain such a good image, and if it were sullied considerably and irreperably, he would be absolutely destraught. The fact remains that, on a subconscious wavelength, Brian tends to make sure his good deeds are made obvious, even if his motives behind them might be completely innocuous.
These things are arbitrary, however, and even though they represent a good chunk of consistency in his personality, these are cast aside by perhaps his favorite pastime; Brian Geoffery Sinclair, bottom line, simply loves to gossip. Through him can many employees of AuraFiz find out some nitty-gritty details about their workmates, and, largely unbeknownst to him, this nagging little habit has earned the greatest spot on his track record. Inherently, his gossip carries no undertones of a mean spirit or vengeful attitude, but instead he only enjoys talking about people and their lives when they step out of earshot. Conversely, if he ever held bad opinions of a person, the only way they would hear about it was by someone else, never directly from Brian himself.
Behind the mask of a congenial man fond of idle chatter, Brian has been the accessory to a few shady works he would rather not discuss. While he has his preferences against bloodshed and especially killing, the very nature behind these missions he has undergone goes against his better judgement. Guilt has burdened his conscience here and there, and while it has lessened over time, he can still only try to justify what AuraFiz has firmly ordered him to do. These things considered, it seems rather obvious that Brian has trouble saying 'no', even though this delicate and specialized case transcends his feelings entirely.

/// APPEARANCE
A big, solid and beefy kind of guy, Brian towers high at six feet and five inches. His ruddy hair is close-cropped and wooly, and his square face shapes a broad jawline. His eyes are small, usually narrowed in the sun, and a watery gray-green tint, while a thick, flat nose lays between them and sparse eyebrows knit across his gently ridged forehead. His lips are quite full, and underneath, between them and his large chin, a small, reddish patch of hair grows. Due to the shortness of his hair, his ears appear to stick out noticeably from his head.
When not in a classic t-shirt and jeans, Brian's clothes stem from a wide selection, whether they be a sports jersey and gym shorts or a turtleneck and khakis. He does, however, seem to enjoy some garments over others, such as sandals (due to his dislike of footwear), and he tends not to mishmash a bunch of colors together hoping it looks good. Solid, primary colors like red or blue are his safest bet, but in reality, he wears pretty much anything clean and in good condition, with good mind paid to propriety toward the situation.

/// HISTORY
Born in Anaheim, California to a newlywed couple, Brian lived many happy years with his parents. Always one with an active imagination, his affinity for 'acting', pretending to be someone else, became known early on in his life. Even in the earliest grades of school, Brian signed up for some plays here and there, and loved being in front of people, performing. There was no question he would join the drama club when he got older, and when doing so, he established himself well in a circle of friends in that club-- even though he got along with most anyone, excepting bullies who mocked his masculinity. He finally got a starring role in The Music Man when in the sixth grade, the audience loved it, and he managed to excel as an amateur actor from there on.
He maintained strong bonds with his family as well, with his mother, father, and sister Frankie (who was seven years younger than him), but even then he hesitated to tell them of his budding preference for the same gender. He want anything but to distance himself from his sister, mother, and father, but in a few months, he wound up telling them exactly in that order; Francesca was surprised, yet supportive, and his mother felt the same, though his father seemed to tell him twice between the span of a week that he would love him no matter what-- except, as the fifteen-year-old then noticed, the second time he meant it. His dad's smile said it all. From there on, he dated boys freely, despite stupid and discriminatory people, but up until graduation, it seemed he could never keep a relationship alive. Apparently, he was more like a friend than a lover, and stayed so.
With his enrollment at San Francisco Art Institute, he still never could keep a relationship alive for long, but despite discouragement, he found reasons not to complain; he at least got to study acting, which he loved most. He kept living in San Francisco well after that, but there seemed to be a pecking order in the city's many theater companies that was plainly obvious. Never once was he the star and usually played an extra, an understudy, or at the very best, a supporting character. Annoyed to feel so low on the proverbial ladder, he soon caught rumors about Miami, where it was said that success was easier. Weighing the decision, he decided to go ahead and leave the city he grew up around, heading east with his bags packed.
His credentials got him about as far as they did in San Francisco (in other words, not far), but it turned out that doing a few under-the-counter 'favors' allowed him to succeed more than before, at least in his present theater company. There, he starred as the titular character in Phantom of the Opera as the title character and really seemed to please the audience. Settling down in Miami, where he loved the nightlife, he bought his own home and grew content. Two years later, after that ended its run, another company jumped at the chance to add Brian to their roster, and he starred in Little House of Horrors. He was cast as Seymour, the male lead, since a spectacular audition overrode the strange choice to cast a tall and muscular man as a quintessential geek.
Rehearsals went swimmingly, as did the first act he spent on stage, but during the beginning of the second act, Brian started feeling somewhat queasy. He ignored his minor nausea, but it led to odd circumstances where, during his initial return to the stage, he plunged the entire area up until the first row of seats into total darkness. There were screams heard throughout the auditorium, but no one was harmed. Brian stood, stunned with fear, until the darkness seemed to rapidly shrink back into his own body and vanish. When everything could be seen again, he fled the stage in panic. Little did he know that a pair of watchful eyes had traced his path, started to follow him behind the scenes.
A woman named Caroline Preece, who was sitting in the audience at the time, figured out before anyone else what had happened, and if she got her way, the 'pompous actor' would be brought down just like any special who boasted his abilities so readily. Brian just wanted to go home, but Caroline stopped him right at the back exit and explained how his oncoming demise, and suggested something unusual about the onstage fiasco. Trying to learn about these 'abilities' the brunette woman mentioned then became just as worrisome as the fact that someone always seemed to watch or follow him, no matter where in Miami he went-- no doubt the same shady organization that Caroline represented. There were several times where he inexplicably avoided them, sparing his safety for yet another day.
Very soon after, though, relief came when a woman in sunglasses approached him in the alley behind the theatre. Brian was cautious at first and felt like running as fast as he could, but she kept a safe distance, calling him by name, and generally made him feel at ease. Introducing herself as Beatrice Stark, she told him her company knew about him, that he was in grave danger, and that there was a way out. He was one of many people with powers, and the company she represented would apparently keep him safe. With nowhere else to turn, Brian was obliged to follow-- and if things got fishy, he felt like he knew how to escape. The AuraFiz company in Atlanta was his next stop, and from there, thanks to his experience, he was featured in several of their commercials. He understands his powers much better than before, but sometimes, his skills have been recruited for covert missions that aid the company itself. These have been done in the name of justice, he says...

"So, did you hear about Ms. Jameson?"
Brian was sitting on the round edge of the secretary's desk, his legs crossed at the ankle, and in his left hand was a clear plastic cup full of crushed ice and some sort of pink beverage. It was, of course, one of many free samples that he, as an AuraFiz employee, could receive in a day. Not only that, but it was the flavor he liked best as well; pink grapefruit. Yummy. Now that he had his favorite soda in tow, what better way to spend an afternoon of downtime than shooting the breeze with the secretary?
"What about her?" said the secretary, her voice rather deadpan and unamused. It was a shame she didn't even try to feign interest-- but then again, Irene was always that way. She was at least cordial enough, in Brian's recollection, to carry on with a conversation, even if she often seemed so cold. Sometimes, she even had the decency to chime in with a few hot items of her own. She briefly made eye contact with the large man, looking above the black frames of her glasses, before looking back to shuffle through her papers. "I hear a lot of things about Rhona in a day."
"I bet you do," Brian rubbed his chin a bit, "I bet you do..." With a pause, he took a sip of his soda and smacked his lips subtly, savoring the taste he enjoyed so much. There was no sense dawdling, though. "Anyway, I--"
A door opened and someone, a suit-clad associate tightly holding a briefcase in his hand, walked through from that entry to the building's front exit, shuffling quickly from one point to another like the world was on fire. Brian had bolted his head to peer the man's way as soon as he heard the telltale sounds, and had kept his mouth shut the entire time. Irene was nonchalant as always, but Brian's cheeks had briefly turned an unmistakeable blush. His heart even began to rush, though only for a while. The risk of petty eavesdroppers always was a bother, but it wasn't a factor he often weighed. His throat's momentary dryness was washed away with another swig of his drink.
As soon as he made certain the coast was clear, with a brief sweep of his gray-green eyes, Brian looked back to Irene and raised his eyebrows. Hinting that he returned to a relaxed attitude, he shrugged his shoulders. "Anyway," he leaned back a bit, allowing Irene to hear better without raising his tone, "Don't quote me on this, but I heard she..."
Did you read the rules: No, and I can sum up the reason why in two words; SOLID DARKNESS!
