/// SPECIAL ABILITY
Hyperjump
Marissa has the ability to jump further and/or higher than the average human by controlling her leg muscles. Her legs must, therefore, absorb a whole lot more energy, which make them very strong. She doesn't have enhanced agility or speed however, so don't expect her to have great balance and fighting skills because of that. She will land on her feet whenever she does a jump, no matter the height. That's only because of her power. Mind you she does have great agility, but nothing extraordinary. Finally, her speed. Because of the strength in her legs, she can run pretty fast. It's nothing too special, but you could compare it to a very competitive runner in the Olympics.
[/i]
/// ABILITY LIMITS
Marissa is pretty new at the whole hero, villain and power thing, therefore isn't very experienced in the art. Her limit when it comes to the height of her jump is approximately fifty to sixty feet, whereas the distance is a hundred feet. At every jump, a lot of energy is lost, therefore she may only be able to do a few at a time before having to rest up or eat something. She does have a lot of endurance though, and sometimes you'll find her overtiring herself, which could eventually lead in some damage to her body, such as exhaustion, muscle damage and even paralysis.
Over time, she may get the strength to double, even triple those numbers, it depends how much she trains and how determined she is. Remember, she's only starting out, but you never know. Now, I mentioned the energy involved, let's get into more details. As I said earlier, Marissa will get tired easily, and her metabolism is very, very fast. Well, maybe not fast, it all goes to her legs for strength. She has to eat double what a normal human would, and even then it probably won't be enough if she uses her powers a lot.
For about ten jumps, she'll use all the energy a Human will make in one day. If she makes a hundred jumps in one day, she'll have to eat ten times what someone normally eats, and then some...since she has to feed the rest of her body as well. Finally, her sleeping pattern is a little odd considering the effects of her powers. She has what people call Insomnia, meaning she has trouble sleeping at night. All and all, she has a lot of strain on her body, and it's a shock she's still very healthy.

/// PERSONALITY
The Good
She's Optimistic Marissa is definitely the kind of girl that will always look at the brighter side of the picture, but she's not overly optimistic. When she knows in her heart something is not possible, she won't tell people 'Everything will be alright' or whatever happy, optimistic words fit the situation. She'll just keep her mouth shut and hope for the best. She's Determined Whenever she wants something, whether it's an object, ambition or goal, she'll do whatever it takes to achieve it.
She's Realistic Sure she's an Optimism, but she's still realistic. She won't give people ideas when she knows it can't happen, nor will she kid herself. She's Responsible Maybe it's because of her past with younger siblings and only a single father to raise all of them, but Marissa was always responsible, never doing anything that could get her in trouble. She's Selfless Because of the same reason as the last, she's completely selfless, putting others' needs before her own.
The Bad
She's Closed-Off Marissa doesn't let people in very easily, and she has a good poker face. If she doesn't want someone to know something, they won't, she's not much of a big talker either. Distrusting When Marissa doesn't know somebody, she'll be on her guard and automatically act as if they aren't to be trusted, even if they seem like saints. She knows not to judge a book by it's cover. It takes time for them to gain her respect, even longer to gain her trust and then add a bit more time for a friendship.
Rebellious She's not afraid to speak her mind, and if she doesn't agree with something or someone, she'll say so. She can also do rebellious things, but there's usually a reason for it. Stubborn When Marissa decides something, she's dead set on it. Even she can't change her own mind most of the time, and when she does realize she's wrong, she has a hard time admitting it, both to herself and others. Unsympathetic If something happened to someone, she'll have a hard time being sympathetic, and it can sometimes be seen as rude or mean. She isn't.

Marissa always had shoulder-length curly blond hair, and it has always been messy, tangled, yet very pretty. Her eyes are a hazel color, that change to a more green tone whenever she's in sunlight. She's tall too, standing at 5,7" and weighs about 100. She's a little under weight because of her powers. She has a curvy, hour-glass shape, but she doesn't show it off like most woman would. In fact, her style consists of baggy hoodies, baggy jeans with holes in the knees, and any clothes that makes her look more like a guy. She likes hats, basketball shoes, bracelets and has a leather necklace with a shark fang on it. You'll often see her wearing a pony-tail, either that or her hair will simply be down in a tangled mess of curls.

/// HISTORY
1992: Richard and Angela Chancely got married at the age of seventeen, six months after finding out they were going to give birth to their first child. Both still in High School, they didn't know what to expect, but they did know one thing: they loved each other like nobody had ever loved anyone. Three months later, in March, Marissa Rikki Chancely was brought into this World, and everyone knew she would one day bring greatness. For the first few months of her life, Marissa didn't really have a solid home, with her parents still in their Junior Year of High School. During the summer though, her parents bought an Apartment together and started to build a better life for their rapidly growing daughter. By Christmas, everything was great, and Richard even got a Basketball Scholarship at a College in the city.
1993: Nearly one year old now, Marissa was a happy baby, with grandparents that spoiled her rotten (Even if both sides were rather short on money) and aunts and uncles (Her parents' friends since they were both only child) that she loved, and loved her right back. She was shown off a lot, and in a way the Seniors at the High School were like her extended family. When she turned a year, she probably had the biggest party a one year-old could have, with a lot of presents. From March to June, life remained the same for her, until her parents graduated and they were really off on their own. Another surprise was when Angela found out she was Pregnant again over the summer. Eighteen and expecting her second child. Nonetheless, she attended University to become a Doctor.
1994: Her Maternal Grandfather died of Cancer in mid-January, which really upset the growing family, as well as all the family friends. Angela took it the hardest, and had a few complications with the baby because of it. She did end up finding out she would be having Twins though, which put a smile to her face. At the end of May, Marissa had two new brothers, Patrick and Jesse. Marissa was very close to her brothers and loved them very much. Her Father injured his knee during the summer, and so couldn't play Basketball anymore. He was torn about it and started drinking, which Marissa couldn't understand. The rest of the year was one of the hardest for the family, with only Angela actually taking care of three kids while in University.
1995: Richard started getting his life back together in early January, after his wife of three years told him she would be filing for divorce if he didn't change. He decided to man up and without rehab, stopped drinking and took a more active part in the kids' lives. He even decided to fallow a new path with his career and got himself a Job at a Body Shop. He had always had a thing for cars. On Marissa's third birthday, she was signed up for swimming lessons, and loved it. Her brothers turned one two months later, and Marissa learned that she would be having a new sister soon. Over the summer she continued with swimming and helped out with her baby sister's new room. In September Kristen was born. Nothing else happened that year that was memorable.
1996: Marissa was growing up so fast, already nearing four years of age, and her parents being only twenty-one. She continued swimming lessons, and was very good at it, but along with that she found a more artistic side, she loved drawing. She was smart too, and on her birthday, was able to read syllables. Her brothers turned two and then a few months later her sister turned one. Marissa was even closer to Kristen than she'd been with the boys. In September, she also started Pre-K, and made a few friends there. She was closed-off though, and even a bit cold to everyone, mostly because even at that age she was mistrusting. Her personality was a lot like her father's, and her she had her Mother's looks.
1997: In early February, Angela found out she was Pregnant yet again. It was getting to a point where people thought the two were crazy, being so young with so many children. The two really had no money at all half the time, with Angela only in her Third year of University, and Richard making a small amount every two weeks, just enough to feed the family. Marissa's swimming lessons, after two years, were stopped, so she only swam in the pool owned by the Apartment building. Rent was pretty hard too, so Richard's parents helped out a little. Because a new boy was coming along, Angela decided to get herself a part-time job, just so she could help out a little. In November, John was born.
1998: School was good for Marissa, she did well. She had a lot of friends too, even with her now a little less often temper problems. She was the kind of girl that would, in High School, without a doubt be the rebel, tom-boy kind. She hated the prissy girls who wore pink dresses and painted nails already. Her drawing continued to improve, and she also found her love of basketball. Sure, she was only six, but she lived to play with her Father, who could still play, just not competitively like he had hoped when he'd been younger and before his accident. Her siblings were all growing as well, and in August, the family ended up winning a 100,000.00$ prize, and Angela confessed that she wanted to adopt, so they did. In December, they received 3 week-old triplets.
1999: Just a week after the New Year, Angela learned she had Breast Cancer and that it was so far long that there was nothing the doctors could do. She had ten months to live. Marissa and the other kids were kept in the dark from this, and continued on with a happy life. Marissa started swimming again, and at seven years of age, she was now pretty far along. Her drawing and Basketball was quite impressive too, and her English grades at school were sky rocketing from B's to A+'s. In August, Marissa found out her Mother would be dying when Angela was rushed to the Hospital. For the next two months, she was very, very ill, and in November she passed away.
2000: With the death of Marissa's mother, the young girl was very upset, and for a few months she didn't even talk to anybody, not even her siblings or father. Her art became the only thing in her life, and it was a little gruesome. She would draw dark nights, blood, scary beasts... At only eight, she was drawing like a teenager that had gotten years of lessons. Mid-way in her second grade, things started to change. She was no longer depressed, she was angry. She started swearing in class, doing things she isn't supposed to do. She even got suspended for a week after punching a boy in the face. Things didn't look up when she started third grade the fallowing September.
2001: Her rebellious side was getting worse and worse, and finally her Father, who was also grieving, almost as heartbroken as Marissa, decided she needed help. Marissa was very angry during her first visit at the Psychiatrist, but a few months later, she was doing some progress, not much, but some. She started swimming again, which was good. Swimming and drawing was all that kept her sane, since her family and friends weren't really there anymore since she was being so closed off and hostile. At the end of the year, close to Christmas, Marissa went to a meeting with the Psychiatrist, and in the end, something triggered her rocky emotions, making her so angry she never set foot in there again.
2002-2004: For the next two years, she pretty much stayed the same. Although she slowly healed from her Mother's death, her rebel, tom-boy personality stayed. She was becoming quite the young lady though, even if she sometimes dressed like a guy, with hoodies, baggy jeans with holes, sneakers and such. When she was in sixth grade, she started making friends with most of the boys, since she didn't fit in with girls much anymore. The boys treated her as one of their own, and she even went to a few sleepovers they had. She never once saw them as anything but friends, she even considered them like brothers sometimes.
2005: Her first year in Middle School, she starts hanging out even more with the boys. All of her friends were boys, and when they started dating girls, she felt a little awkward. Most of them only talked about girls, and she was definitely not a lesbian, no matter how much people thought she was. Finally when the rumor that she was started spreading, she took action and asked one of her closest friends (Jared) to pretend to be her boyfriend. Back home, she became close with Kristen again, but the others weren't really up to talking to her like they used to. Marissa made the School basketball team, as well as a Swim team in the neighborhood.
2006: She continued to fake date Jared, and the rumors stopped after they actually kissed in front of a group of people, twice. What Marissa did not know though, was that Jared actually liked her. On her fourteenth birthday, she told him that they could stop pretending now, and he admitted to her that he actually did like her. From March to the fallowing December, they dated, much to Richard's disapproval. Swim team and Basketball continued to go strong, and she was even the MVP for Basketball. Starting out eight grade, Marissa was actually a popular girl, not because she was pretty and girly, but because she was looked up to. Good grades, athletic...
2007-2008: Everything was pretty normal, she broke up with Jared in January 2007 and didn't date until May. This time a more popular Jock a year older than she was, but they only lasted a few weeks. She took Fencing in her first two High School years, and was actually quite good at it. She also began writing, and found it was actually fun. The thought of becoming a writer occurred to her on many occasions. Now she's sixteen and a half years old, and her life is finally in order... sort of.
2009: She ended her Sophomore year, and almost lost her virginity all at once. It was a party her friend was throwing, and she and Jared (They had decided to stay friends after breaking up a while back) both got a little drunk together. They ended up making out quite passionately, and half-way naked, she realized what she was doing was wrong. A few witnesses saw and started rumors. Of course Marissa knew it wasn't true. By the next year though, everyone had forgotten, but Jared and Marissa were an item again. She took all of the classes needed in the first Semester, and finished half a year early. She started her Senior Year early too, therefore by June 2010, she would graduate.
Present: Basketball, Swimming, School and Writing. It's what occupied her life for half the year. She'd broken up with Jared again a while back. After graduation though, her life changed completely. She found out she had supernatural and completely extraordinary gifts. She could jump so high, so far. A lot of people saw her the first time she did it, and she was rumored to be some kind of freak. That's mainly why she moved to Miami and never spoke to her family since. Also, she wanted a fresh start, figure out a way to reverse the disease that is this strength in her lower body. Now in late 2010, Marissa is a lonely High School graduate ready for some drama. Where will she stand in this war?

The silence was inevitable, being in such a small apartment at this hour, but in a way it made Marissa calmer than she'd been in weeks. About a month ago, her life had changed in ways she would never have imagined possible. Her ambitions, dreams and goals had all changed, all because her DNA was different than others, hers was extraordinary. Special. Being extraordinary wasn't as fun as people thought, having special abilities wasn't as fun as people thought either. She didn't really know much about her condition, if it was reversible, or if others existed like her, but she did know she had to start a new life in a smaller place than New York. Somewhere where she didn't know anybody but herself. A fresh start.
Yes, her life was going to be tough, especially these next few months where she would have to learn to adapt to her new life and new ability. She'd need to find out more about all of this, do some research. New York had been too big, and she'd spent eighteen years there. There was no going back now, she didn't want people she loved to get in the crossfire. Plus, being on the other side of the Country was a good thing. Newly graduated from High School, it was a good way to have her independence, no younger siblings to care for, no over-protective father. She was on her own, and in the midst of everything that was going on, she liked that.
Marissa looked outside her bedroom window one more time, the inky black night had tiny white specks at various places in the sky, and the moon was bright over the Atlantic ocean. The beauty of Miami was still breathtaking, even after one full week living here. She had the perfect location for her Apartment, just down the street there was a Dock with many Fishing boats, and a perfect view at the Ocean. A Beach was also nearby, and if she was to walk behind her Apartment building, she'd have access to the rest of the city. It was just what she wanted, nothing that reminded her too much of New York, and nothing that was too small either. After all, there was still a city girl in her, no matter how far she was from where she'd grown up.
Suddenly she saw the light, it wasn't the reflection of the moon, like she'd first thought. It was a flashing light, on and off, on and off... Three times it had flickered, and as the curly-haired Blonde opened the window and looked further, she saw the silhouette of a sinking boat a good two-hundred feet out in the water. Maybe she hadn't found the curse to whatever it was that made her jump the way she could, but while she had the ability, she might as well use it wisely, right? She had never purposefully done it before, but the next thing she knew, she was crouching on the ledge, looking down at the street three floors below.
Then, she jumped.
It was like flying, only she couldn't control it when gravity decided to come in and bring her down again. She landed on the balls of her feet like a cat, and looking behind her, she saw her Apartment building, with the open window on the third floor...Thing is, she was now on the other side of the street, standing on the docks. She had done what no one else could, she had jumped at least fifty feet in distance, and she knew she could go much further if she wanted to. Now she needed a way to get to that boat, nobody else seemed to have seen the flashing lights, the street was completely empty right now, the fishermen only coming in a few hours still.
