On Variable Intricacy, we want to set the stage so that players are able to use a degree of mystery for their characters and not so openly divulge details that might be more fun to reveal at key moments in the plot. Plot is very important to us, and that is why we want to use this system. We ask that you respect this system and not undermine it!
Players who wish for their character's power to be undisclosed until they are ready to unveil it in the plot, may use spoiler tags in their application over said info so that their reviewer can still read it. It's true that players can still look at them, but some will not think to, and some will not want to. There should still be a lot of people who do not know this information before it is revealed.
For this system to work, we need to ask players to try not to go spoiling everything for themselves if possible. Sure, you're allowed to, but if everyone is doing it, this system, which could potentially make our plot much more fun with memorable moments that unveil important things, would become a moot point and fail to do just that.
Also, and this is of utmost importance, but mind our rules in regards to this system! As a player, you are not to carelessly spread spoiler-tagged information in Cbox or otherwise. Not even in private! This is a mere matter of respect, both for the players plotting, and for the site and this system.
Now, if you are talking to someone in private, and they want to know what you know, then you may tell them. However, don't tell them unsolicited spoiler information. In public areas, such as the board or the Cbox, refrain from sharing this information *at all*. People can sign on later and see it!
Thanks for understanding, guys! We believe if we respect and use this system appropriately, it should breathe a new element of the unknown into RP.
Addendum: A quick note on the actual use of the spoiler system. When you use the spoiler code, bear in mind that the text included will be presented on a white background with default black text. If you color your text, choose colors that are dark enough to show up on a white surface. The same colors that work on the ordinary background for the site won't necessarily work in a spoiler tag.
