Whether it be a good thing or a bad thing Nick grew up ina well-to-do family. Though in the beginnign they weren't exceptionally wealthy as his father climbed the corporate ladder and time went on they were soon raking in a lot of dough so to speak. Point being nick never really knew what it was like to do without, his family simply had mroe than they needed. The poorest he had ever been was probably right after he left home but even soona fter that he moved in with Penny and along with a sizeable stipend from hsi father and a new job he was living rather comfortably again. Even at his job he was sure he got more than he was supposed to, presumably because of his father's position within the corporation. Nick couldn't imagine what it was like for Mar, he simply never had to worry about things such as money or trying to find a job. For him...it was always just there.
Once inside Subway the conversation picked up again and Nick once again began questioning her about her dirty little secret. Of cours ehe did so under a veil of innocence, presumably just inquiring and thinking up questions on the spot. He knew MAr wasn't dumb but he had confidence in his own ability to try and fool her into at least tossing him a bone. "Yeah, I did graduate." she told him. Nick nodded slowly, it was expected of course that she would have graduated,s he had always been a bright girl. "As for Jobs go, I have to agree with you. New York could've been perfect... I'd like to become a Writer...That, maybe a Mechanic or a Olympic swimmer." Nick nodded his head, still feigning interest. What he really wanted were the juicy details, what she had been hiding from him. "Very nice," he said, with a smile.
"I..." Mar began, hesitating. Nick's eyes narrowed and a coy smile wound up on his face, here it was... She then reassured him that nothing happened in New York and she was indeed not a criminal, Nick grinned he didn't expect her to be but it would've been an interesting surprise. She told him that she was rather infamous in high school to the point where she just needed to get away, he supposed it was a reason it just didn't sit well with him.... Nick frowned, he supposed it was an alright reason but all the same, no harm in filling up a few holes. "So you wouldn't tell and old friend what happened to make you so infamous," he asked. "And why Miami of all places, I mean there are so many Cubans here..." Nick wasn't racist of course a little racial joke didn't hurt every now and then.
